Program Description
The Community Integration through Co-operative Education (CICE) program at Fanshawe College is tailored for adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities, acquired brain injuries, and other significant learning challenges.
Key program features include:
- Individualized Support: Students receive assistance from learning facilitators, who provide support, tutoring, and course modifications tailored to their strengths and goals.
- Integrated Learning: Students take typical college classes alongside peers, enhancing academic skills.
- Elective Options: Choose from areas like Culinary, Photography, Recreation and Leisure, Early Childhood Education, and Office Administration, completing 11 elective courses.
- Field Placements: Gain hands-on experience with three career-related field placements during the program.
Upon completion, students graduate with an Ontario College Certificate in CICE and practical experience in their chosen career path.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Hold one of the following:
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or Ontario Secondary School Certificate (OSSC) with curriculum modification.
- Academic and Career Entrance Certificate (ACE).
- Ontario High School Equivalency Certificate (GED).
- Be a Mature Applicant with appropriate preparation.
- Complete the following:
- Advocate Reference Form.
- Resume.
- Independent Interview.
- Provide a Police Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening, including a check of the Pardoned Sexual Offenders Database.
