Program Description
The Community Integration through Co-operative Education (CICE) program at Niagara College offers tailored educational and vocational training for adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities, acquired brain injuries, or significant learning challenges.
Program Highlights:
- Customized Learning: Individualized study plans based on selected areas of concentration from Niagara College’s program offerings.
- Skill Development: Enhances employability, academic, and social skills.
- Support Services: Includes curriculum modification, note-taking, tutoring, and other academic services as needed.
- Real-World Experience: Field placements provide practical learning opportunities.
Upon successful completion of all coursework and field placement requirements, graduates earn an Ontario College Certificate in CICE.
Admission Requirements
- Educational Background:
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), Ontario Secondary School Certificate (OSSC), Certificate of Accomplishment, or equivalent.
- Mature Student Status is also acceptable.
- Program-Specific Needs:
- Academic needs requiring curriculum modification.
- Independence without requiring constant supervision.
- Additional Criteria:
- Participation in an interview to discuss goals and suitability.
- Ability to arrange transportation to and from the college and field placement locations.
Note: Students who have graduated from any college program are not eligible for the CICE program.
