Program Description

The Workplace TASK Program at the University of the Fraser Valley is an intensive eight-month pre-employment training program designed for adult students with disabilities. This program provides a safe and supportive classroom environment where students can explore career opportunities, enhance self-management skills, and prepare for meaningful employment.

Program Highlights:

  • Employability Workshops: Includes WHMIS, FoodSafe, First Aid, and WorldHost certifications.
  • Skill Development: Training in basic computer skills, résumé writing, and interview preparation.
  • Work Experience: Three job placements with supportive employers in the local community to gain hands-on experience.
  • Career Exploration: Tailored guidance to explore employment options or pursue further studies.

Graduates of the Workplace TASK Program gain valuable skills and experience to secure employment or continue their education at UFV or other institutions.

Admission Requirements

  1. Documentation of Disability:

    • Conducted with a UFV Workplace TASK instructor to assess program suitability.
  3. Independent Self-Management Skills:
    • Ability to use public transportation or arrange alternative transportation.
  4. References:
    • Provide two references.
