Program Description
The Career Awareness Program is tailored for adults with cognitive disabilities, focusing on:
- Developing personal, educational, and career plans.
- Identifying appropriate workplace accommodations and supports.
- Enhancing workplace safety practices and professional conduct.
- Building employable skills and fostering independent work habits.
- Applying health and wellness concepts to educational and employment goals.
The program includes classroom activities, three work practicums, and planning meetings. Students gain hands-on workplace exposure through practicum placements, with faculty providing personalized guidance to match work sites with student interests and abilities.

Admission Requirements
Program-Specific:
- Screening Interviews:
- Step 1: Meet with the CACE Student Services Assistant for suitability assessment.
- Step 2: Conduct a second interview with Career Awareness faculty.
- Eligibility Criteria:
- Documented history of learning challenges.
- Motivation and independence for work-related tasks.
- Ability to travel independently to college and workplace.
- Manage personal care and medication independently.
- Tolerance for a diverse learning environment.
Upon Acceptance:
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) may be required for practicum placements. Results impacting vulnerable populations could affect program completion.
